FAQ

Answers to common questions about Clarity Journal.

Getting started

How do I add a trade?

Click + Add trade in the top right. Fill in the symbol, long or short, entry and exit price, size and fees. If you'd rather use your broker's figure, type it in the P&L box and it's used as-is.

Why did my evening trade go on the next day?

The futures trading day starts at 6 PM, so a trade that starts at 6:00 PM or later counts toward the next day. For example, a trade at 7 PM on Sunday counts for Monday. When you log a trade, add its Entry time and the date is moved for you (the form tells you which day it counts for). Imported trades use their own timestamps the same way. Leave the time blank and the trade stays on the date you picked.

Can I import trades from my broker or prop firm?

Yes. On the Add Trade page, click Import trades and pick a CSV export (Tradovate and similar exports work). The file needs a symbol, a quantity and both prices; if it also has timestamps, P&L, fees, direction or an account column, those are picked up too.

What does T1 News on the calendar show?

Switch the Calendar from P&L to T1 News to see red-folder (high-impact) news on each day, with the time it's released. It follows the US only setting on the Economic Calendar page. This week comes straight from the live news feed. Later weeks show the red US releases already scheduled, and further ahead the big ones on their official dates: the jobs report, CPI, retail sales, the first GDP estimate, and the Fed's rate decisions and meeting minutes. Each week's live news is also saved to your account, so past weeks keep everything that was red that week.

Can I see other weeks on the Economic Calendar?

Yes. Use the arrows next to the dates to go to the next or previous week, and click the dates to jump back to this week. Every day is listed, Sunday to Saturday, even when it has no events; untick Weekends to hide Saturday and Sunday. This week shows every event from the live feed, with forecasts. Later weeks show the US events already scheduled, in every colour, through the end of 2026; forecasts, and any changes to dates or times, come in when that week starts. Past weeks show the red-folder (high-impact) news saved while that week was live.

Why does the dashboard only show one month?

The stats and charts follow the month shown in the Calendar. Use the arrows next to the month to switch, or click the month name to jump back to the current month.

Trade Journal

How does the Trade Journal work?

At the top, pick a day with the arrows, the date box or Today. You'll see that day's P&L, win rate, trade count, profit factor, and best and worst trade. In the date box's calendar, a day is green when the trade pages you made that day are tagged Win, red for Loss, and half and half when there's one of each. Below that is a gallery with one page per trade.

What are the pages in the Trade Journal?

One page per trade, laid out as a gallery. Click New or + New page, type the asset you traded as the title (for example XAUUSD), and set Tags to Win or Loss. Use Feeling for how you felt (Confident, Calm, Disciplined, Anxious, FOMO or Frustrated) and Discipline to rate how closely you followed your plan, from 1 (off plan) to 5 (by the book). Then add a chart screenshot: paste it with Ctrl+V, drop the image onto the page, or click the box to pick one. You can add up to 6 screenshots, and write notes about the trade just above them. The first screenshot becomes the picture on the page's box. Use the pencil on a box to rename it, or ··· to delete it.

Do I have to press Save on a page?

No. Pages save as you type, and screenshots save as soon as you add them. The Save button (or Ctrl+S) saves straight away if you want to be sure. A page with nothing filled in is removed when you close it.

Eval Tracker, Payouts & Tax

What should I log in the Eval Tracker?

Anything it costs you to trade: evaluation fees, resets, activation fees, data feeds and platform subscriptions. For anything bought from a prop firm, use the firm's name as the Category (for example Apex) so it's linked to that firm.

Why link expenses and payouts to a prop firm?

So the Tax Calculator can subtract only what you spent at a firm from that firm's payouts. Spell the firm the same way in the expense's Category and in the payout's Prop firm box (capital letters don't matter).

How does the Consistency Calculator work?

Most prop firms won't pay out if one day makes up too much of your profit. Choose Net Profit (your best day against your total profit) or Profit Target (your best day against the account's target), set your firm's rule (for example 30%), and add each trading day's profit. It tells you whether you pass, the most one day can be, and how much more profit you need if you don't, with a chart of every day against the limit.

How is my tax estimated?

In the Tax Calculator, choose the tax year and a prop firm. For the US it uses the 2026 federal brackets and standard deduction, adds self-employment tax for prop firm payouts, and an optional state rate. Outside the US you enter a flat rate. It's an estimate only, not tax advice, so check with a tax professional before you file.

How do I edit a payout?

On the Payouts page, right-click the payout in Payout history and choose Edit payout. On a phone, press and hold the payout instead.

What is Tax owed on the Payouts page?

An estimate of the tax on your payouts for the year you pick. Each firm's profit is its payouts minus what you spent at that firm in the Eval Tracker. A firm that cost you more than it paid adds no tax and doesn't reduce the others. It uses your settings from the Tax Calculator (country, filing status, state rate or flat rate), so click Tax settings to change them. It's an estimate only, not tax advice.

Why don't I see any numbers in the Tax Calculator?

When income comes from payouts, pick a firm under Prop firm. Nothing is calculated while it's set to None.

What is the Journal Card?

A shareable image of your P&L for today, this week, this month or all time. Open it from the Journal Card button on the dashboard, then download or copy it. You can upload your own background image; for the sharpest card, use one at least 2000 pixels wide.

Account

Why can't I sign in after creating an account?

New accounts have to be approved by an admin first. You'll be able to sign in with your username and password as soon as yours is approved.

It says "Too many failed sign-in attempts". What do I do?

To protect your account from password guessing, sign-in pauses for a username after 10 wrong passwords in 15 minutes. Wait 15 minutes and try again with the right password.

How do I change my password?

Go to Settings and click Change next to Change password.

Who can see my trades and journal?

Only you. Your trades and journal are stored under your own account, and the database only lets your account read or change them. Admins can see your username, email and account status so they can approve accounts, but not your journal. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Can I download my data?

Yes. Go to Settings and click Download next to Download my data. You'll get everything saved in your account as one JSON file.

Is Clarity Journal financial or tax advice?

No. It's a tool for recording and reviewing your own trades. The stats and calculators are estimates based on what you enter, so check prop firm rules with your firm and your taxes with a professional. See the Terms of Service.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings, click Delete next to Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. This permanently erases your trades, journal and everything else saved in your account. To also remove your sign-in details (email and username), contact us.

Can I hide the Economic Calendar?

Yes. In Settings, turn off Show economic events and the tab disappears from the sidebar.
